for visitors. Make sure you have
health insurance to pay your medical
costs before you leave for Canada
In order to avoid possible delay
it is important that you be very
careful to completely follow all
directions given by the Embassy/Consulate

application may be rejected and it
will be necessary to start the complete

Canadian Embassies in
some countries, such as
Colombia, require students
to enroll in full-time
courses before they can
apply for Student Authorizations.
Students from some other
countries often encounter
various complications and
delays when applying for
Student Authorizations.
Some of these countries
are China, Russia, Turkey,
Egypt, and Macao. If you
are from one of these countries,
you should take some time
to become an expert on
Canadian visas before you
apply. You must be able
to convince the authorities
that you genuinely want
to come to Canada to study
English, and that you will
return to your home country
when your studies have
been completed. You must
also submit all of the
correct documents
It may take two or three
months for the Student
Visa to be processed.
You will be asked for
the following information:
- completed Visa Application
an Embassy near you: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/offices/missions.html )
- A Letter of Acceptance
from Connect (please
keep a photocopy of the
Letter when you enter
Canada)
- Receipt of payment
from Connect
- Proof of Financial
Support to show you can
pay for your time in
Canada including accommodation,
transportation etc.
- Proof that you will
return to your country
at the end of your time
in Canada
- You must be in good
health and you may be
required to complete
a medical examination.
You may also be asked
for an interview with Immigration
officials. One purpose
of the interview is to
help the immigration officer
evaluate you personally.
The immigration officer
will want to confirm that
you have enough money to
study in Canada, and that
you will return to your
home country when your
course is completed. Therefore,
you should be well dressed,
well groomed, and on time
when you go for your interview.
You should behave in a
positive and polite manner,
even if the immigration
officer does not. You should
never lie to an immigration
officer.
