Visa Information

Connect is registered with "Citizenship and Immigration Canada". We are entitled to write "Letters of Acceptance" necessary for our students to apply for a Study Permit or Visa.

You will need a valid passport to enter Canada. Canada does not pay for hospital or medical services for visitors. Make sure you have health insurance to pay your medical costs before you leave for Canada

In order to avoid possible delay it is important that you be very careful to completely follow all directions given by the Embassy/Consulate that you apply to. Otherwise your application may be rejected and it will be necessary to start the complete process over again.

Please note that Immigration rules and regulations change without notice and we strongly suggest you contact the nearest Canadian Embassy or Consulate for details related to your situation. Click here for the nearest Canadian Visa office in your country

There are two types of visas:

Student Visa - If you study for 24 weeks or 6 months or more, you must obtain a Student Visa

Visitor Visa or Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) - If you study from 1 week to 23 weeks, you need a Visitor Visa

Please visit the Canadian Citizenship and Immigration website to find out details about how to obtain a visa and other details related to coming to Canada.

Here is some more information related to Visitor Visas/TRV and Student Visas.

Student Visa

More Information about Student Visas

If you plan to study at Connect for 6 months or more, you will need to get a Student Visa. For complete details and application forms on how to apply for a Student Visa, please click here

The Student Visa can be extended in Canada AFTER you receive your first visa. Connect School of Languages will provide you with assistance to extend your stay and we have applications at our school.

Canadian Embassies in some countries, such as Colombia, require students to enroll in full-time courses before they can apply for Student Authorizations. Students from some other countries often encounter various complications and delays when applying for Student Authorizations. Some of these countries are China, Russia, Turkey, Egypt, and Macao. If you are from one of these countries, you should take some time to become an expert on Canadian visas before you apply. You must be able to convince the authorities that you genuinely want to come to Canada to study English, and that you will return to your home country when your studies have been completed. You must also submit all of the correct documents

It may take two or three months for the Student Visa to be processed.

You will be asked for the following information:

  • completed Visa Application (click here to contact an Embassy near you: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/offices/missions.html )
  • A Letter of Acceptance from Connect (please keep a photocopy of the Letter when you enter Canada)
  • Receipt of payment from Connect
  • Proof of Financial Support to show you can pay for your time in Canada including accommodation, transportation etc.
  • Proof that you will return to your country at the end of your time in Canada
  • You must be in good health and you may be required to complete a medical examination.

You may also be asked for an interview with Immigration officials. One purpose of the interview is to help the immigration officer evaluate you personally. The immigration officer will want to confirm that you have enough money to study in Canada, and that you will return to your home country when your course is completed. Therefore, you should be well dressed, well groomed, and on time when you go for your interview. You should behave in a positive and polite manner, even if the immigration officer does not. You should never lie to an immigration officer.
